Claire's Surgery

Just wanted to give a quick update on Claire!  Her surgery to repair her cleft palate is scheduled for March 4th, two weeks from today.  She will also have tubes put in her ears as she has fluid built up due to her inability to equalize pressure in her ears (normal for babies with clefts).  We have heard of quite a few cleft surgeries being cancelled (even the day of) due to not enough beds for after care at the Stollery.  We’ve been praying that Claire’s surgery would not be bumped as this would greatly affect our upcoming trip to Asia.  Please join us in praying for our requests:

-that Claire’s surgery would go as planned on March 4th
-that the surgery itself would go very well and healing would go perfectly
-that the Lord would give us strength, wisdom, rest and peace as parents
-for comfort, healing and joy for Claire (she has to wear arm splints probably for about a week after so she doesn’t touch her mouth)

In other news, Claire just turned 10 months!  She is army crawling like a pro and we can hardly keep up with her!  Mama is her only real word and she is constantly saying Mum mum mum for everything!  She’s waving, clapping, pointing and is an excellent communicator at what she wants and doesn’t want!  She’s drinking from a cup and loves feeding herself. She examines each bite she puts in her mouth and eats as if she has all the time in the world (I’m sure many of us could learn something from her)!  She’s working hard on pulling herself up to standing and is learning to appreciate books as something other than a chew toy!  Her favourite activities are pulling her socks off, pointing out the window, finding every crumb on the floor and climbing on anyone who will let her!  She has a great sense of humour and we love her little giggles!  She is a delight and we are so thankful God has entrusted us with such a treasure as her!

Stay tuned for another update soon on our upcoming trip to Asia and how you can be involved!

  4. Yes, it's a go for 7:20 am Mountain Standard Time! She is the first for the day which is an answer to prayer because she is less likely to get bumped. Thank-you for praying. Love you too!
